Can I bring my children?

Yes, you can

Children are welcome on many of our safaris, however minimum age requirements vary depending on the itinerary and style of safari. For mobile camping departures, we generally recommend children be aged 12 and above due to the nature of long game drives and remote camp environments. Private departures offer greater flexibility and can be tailored to families travelling with younger children. Please speak with our team to determine the most suitable option.

What vaccinations do I need?

None are required but vaccinations are recommended

Travellers should consult their doctor or travel clinic well in advance of departure. Botswana is a low-risk destination in terms of required vaccinations, however routine travel immunisations are recommended. Malaria is present in northern Botswana (including the Okavango Delta and surrounding areas), so anti-malarial medication is typically advised. Requirements can vary depending on your country of origin and any transit countries, particularly regarding yellow fever certificates.

What should I pack?

Minimal luggage is recommended

Soft-sided luggage is essential, as light aircraft transfers have strict weight limits (typically 20kg including hand luggage). Neutral-coloured, lightweight clothing is recommended for game drives, along with a warm layer for early mornings in winter (May–August). Comfortable closed shoes, sun protection, a hat and binoculars are all useful. Detailed packing guidance is provided prior to departure to ensure you’re fully prepared.

When is the best time to visit Botswana?

All year round

Botswana is a year-round safari destination, with each season offering a different experience.

May–October (Dry Season): Cooler temperatures and concentrated wildlife around water sources make this the peak game-viewing period.

November–April (Green Season): Lush landscapes, dramatic skies and excellent birdlife define this time of year. It’s also when many animals give birth, offering unique wildlife interactions.

The best time depends on what you most want to experience — our team can guide you based on your interests.

How much does a Botswana safari cost?

It can vary

Botswana is considered one of Africa’s more exclusive safari destinations due to its low-volume, high-conservation tourism model. Prices vary depending on safari style (Adventure Camping, Premium Camping or Lodge-to-Lodge), duration and season. As a general guide, mobile safaris typically start from mid-range pricing and increase with added comfort and private departures. For an accurate quotation, we recommend reviewing specific itineraries or requesting tailored pricing based on your travel dates.

Do they speak english in Botswana?

Yes

English is the official language of Botswana and is widely spoken throughout the country. It is used in government, tourism and education. In addition, Setswana is the national language, and many of our guides speak multiple local dialects alongside fluent English.

Where to fly into Botswana for a safari?

Maun or Kasane depending on the safari

Most international travellers fly into Maun (MUB), the gateway to the Okavango Delta and northern safari regions. Some itineraries may also begin in Kasane (BBK), particularly those exploring Chobe National Park. Both airports are well connected via Johannesburg, which serves as the primary international hub for southern Africa. From Maun or Kasane, light aircraft transfers are typically used to access remote safari are.

Visa Advice

Visa requirements for Botswana vary depending on your nationality. Many travellers from the United Kingdom, United States, European Union, Canada and Australia do not require a visa for short tourist stays. However, entry requirements can change, so we always recommend checking with your local Botswana High Commission or official government website before travelling.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your date of departure and should have at least three blank pages for entry stamps. Proof of onward or return travel may also be requested upon arrival.

If your journey involves transiting through another country - most commonly South Africa - please ensure you also meet their entry requirements, including any transit visa regulations. Travellers arriving from, or passing through, a yellow fever risk country may be required to present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate.

We provide detailed pre-departure information prior to travel to ensure you are aware of all current requirements relevant to your itinerary.
