The Lion Safari is an unforgettable adventure in Botswana. Experience the safari as it explores some of the most breathtaking wilderness regions in Botswana. From the enchanting Nxai Pan to the distinctive Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, and the renowned Chobe River, this journey begins in Kasane and concludes at the stunning Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. This camping safari provides incredible value for money. It offers a well-rounded adventure, blending various ecosystems and wildlife habitats for a truly enriching exploration of Botswana’s heart. Travellers can expect to see a diverse range of flora and fauna while basking in the natural beauty and tranquility of these extraordinary African landscapes.
The safari will start in Kasane, Botswana, at 13:00. Bush Ways Safaris will assist with pre-tour arrangements like accommodation and transfers if needed. Upon arrival, your guide will give a safari briefing and take you shopping for drinks. The first highlight will be a boat cruise on the Chobe River. Camping will be in Kasane at a public campsite with permanent ablutions. Distance: Kasane to Nxai Pan: 500 km | Travel Time: 8 hours
Travel south to Nxai Pan National Park, a striking landscape of salt pans and open grasslands. Explore expansive plains dotted with antelope and visit the iconic Baines’ Baobabs. Game drives reveal desert-adapted wildlife across this unique semi-arid environment. Camp at a private bush site with ablutions, surrounded by vast horizons and dramatic desert scenery. Distance: Nxai to Maun: 210 km | Travel Time: 4-5 hours
After breakfast, you will leave Nxai Pan and continue to the outskirts of Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Passing through Maun for drinks shopping, you will camp on the outskirts with permanent ablution facilities.
Journey into the Okavango Delta where local polers guide you through tranquil channels by traditional mokoro. Over three days, explore floodplains and islands on guided walks and serene water excursions. Camp in the wild on a secluded island and beside a lagoon. An optional scenic helicopter flight offers breathtaking aerial views of this remarkable wetland ecosystem. Distance: Okavango Delta to Moremi: 90km, | Travel Time: 5 hours (transfer and game drive)
Explore Moremi Game Reserve, one of Botswana’s most wildlife-rich and ecologically diverse areas. Over three days, enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives from two private campsites. Discover savannah, woodlands, and waterways supporting predators, large herbivores, and prolific birdlife. Evenings are spent at rustic bush camps with ablutions, offering an authentic wilderness atmosphere in this renowned Delta reserve. Distance: Moremi to Savute: 120km | Travel Time: 7-8 hours (transfer and game drive)
Venture into the Savuti region of Chobe National Park, known for open savannah, marshes, and dramatic predator activity. Enjoy game drives through diverse habitats while tracking elephants, lions, and other wildlife. Seasonal changes influence animal movements, creating dynamic sightings. Evenings are spent camping at private bush sites with ablutions, immersing you in one of Botswana’s most iconic wilderness areas. Distance: Savute to Chobe River: 170km | Travel Time: 5-6 hours (transfer and game drive)
Explore Chobe National Park along the wildlife-rich Chobe Riverfront. Game drives follow riverbanks where elephants, hippos, red lechwe, and abundant birdlife gather. The park’s varied ecosystems support predators and large herds throughout the year. This river environment offers concentrated wildlife viewing and striking scenery, creating a rewarding safari experience in one of Botswana’s premier national parks. Distance: Chobe River to Victoria Falls: 100km | Travel Time: 3 hours (excluding border crossing)
Transfer to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, where your safari journey concludes. Spend time exploring the spectacular waterfall known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “The Smoke That Thunders.” Enjoy dramatic viewpoints, vibrant local markets, and optional adventure activities. Accommodation is at a comfortable lodge, allowing you to experience this iconic natural wonder at a relaxed pace.
Meals on the Lion safari are freshly prepared in camp, offering wholesome breakfasts, relaxed bush lunches, and hearty dinners under the stars. Guests enjoy flavourful, well-balanced dishes that reflect the warmth and simplicity of authentic safari living.
Game drives on the Lion Safari are conducted in custom-built 4x4 safari vehicles, designed for comfort and optimal wildlife viewing. Open-sided for clear sightlines, each vehicle allows guests to fully immerse themselves in Botswana’s landscapes and unforgettable sightings.
Tents are 2.1m x 2.1m x 1.75m. A 5cm high density foam mattress is provided for each guest. Ablutions are shared and set up by our team when staying in game reserves and national park campsites.

Helicopter Tours
Our Helicopter Safaris, whether doorless or closed is operated in partnership with Helicopter Horizons, offer a breathtaking aerial perspective of the Okavango Delta and surrounding wilderness. From above, guests witness the vast floodplains, winding channels, and wildlife moving across the landscape, revealing the true scale and beauty of this remarkable ecosystem in a way only possible from the air.
Bush Walk
Our guided bush walks offer an immersive way to experience the wilderness on foot with knowledgeable local guides. Discover animal tracks, birdlife, and native plants while learning about the region’s history, cultural heritage, and traditional ways of living in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem.

INCLUDES
- Camping equipment and accommodation: spacious bow tents with mattresses, as well as comfortable lodge rooms in Victoria Falls
- All activities and transfers between safari destinations as outlined in the itinerary (except the transfer between VFA and the Zimbabwe-based lodge, or vice versa)
- Meals as specified: Breakfast - B, Lunch - L, Dinner - D
- Filtered drinking water, along with tea and coffee
- Services of a Professional Guide and Camp Assistant
- All park fees in Botswana for activities included in the itinerary and transport in specialised safari vehicles
- Okavango Air Rescue for evacuation from the bush to the nearest medical facility

- Entrance fee into to the Falls Visas, airport transfers, gratuities, and souvenirs

- Insurance for cancellation, curtailment, medical needs, baggage, and emergency evacuation
- Sleeping bag (and a small pillow) for all camping segments
